Regional Recruitment Partnership
The Regional Recruitment Partnership is comprised of 19 police agencies in the TJCOG region and aims to promote careers in law enforcement, encourage diverse applications that represent the region today and in the future, and educate the region’s workforce on the opportunities that exist in the field. As attrition and vacancy rates continue to increase for local departments and many finish recruitment processes without hiring a single applicant, it is imperative to address the larger perception and recruiting challenges for the profession. While the recruiting challenge is nationwide, there are many opportunities to improve perceptions and relationships between candidates and departments on a local level.
The Regional Recruitment Partnership leverages local dollars to conduct a region-wide marketing and education campaign with WRAL Digital Solutions. The campaign will be guided by data collected through an ongoing research effort with NC Central University and Wake Tech Community College that is studying the barriers for local candidates to join the law enforcement field.
Participating departments will include the towns of Apex, Carrboro, Cary, Chapel Hill, Clayton, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Hillsborough, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Morrisville, Rolesville, Siler City, Smithfield, Southern Pines, and Wendell, and the cities of Durham and Sanford.
