Triangle Sustainability Partnership
Formed in Spring 2022, the Triangle Sustainability Partnership is a program facilitated by Triangle J Council of Governments to enable joint purchasing, outreach, and education on clean energy issues, most notably solar energy. Participating local governments will work collaboratively on regional campaigns to promote and increase access to clean energy sources for community members. Eleven local governments have officially joined the partnership: Chatham, Durham, and Orange counties; the cities of Durham and Raleigh, and the towns of Apex, Carrboro, Cary, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, and Morrisville.
The Partnership's first campaign, "Solarize the Triangle", will take place during Summer 2022 and Summer 2023 in partnership with provider Solar Crowdsource. Solarize campaigns allow jurisdictions to educate residents on solar and to promote solar installations in their communities in a time and cost-efficient manner by soliciting solar providers that will guarantee a tiered pricing system where prices decrease for participants as the number of installations increase and including incentives or free systems to low to moderate income families or to non-profits that face burdensome energy costs.
