TJCOG's Strategic Framework Outlines a Strong Regional Vision
The Triangle J Council of Governments (TJCOG) Board of Delegates has approved the adoption of the organization's first-ever Strategic Framework, which includes new mission and vision statements and organizational priorities, restructures and solidifies six strategic focus areas of work, and enhances core values for TJCOG employees. The TJCOG region remains one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, so a forward-thinking and responsive strategy is critical.
New Mission Statement
A member-driven organization serving as a leading resource to connect communities and enhance their strategic priority outcomes through regional policy, collaboration, and technical assistance at the local, regional, and state level.
New Vision Statement
The premier regional organization that addresses the needs of members by leading work focused on comprehensive, innovative, timely, and reliable solutions for the region.
TJCOG contracted with Monica Allen, Principal of Insight Performance Management Group, LLC., to develop the Strategic Framework. This process included an environmental scan; focus groups, surveys, and one-on-one interviews with key stakeholders - staff, TJCOG board members, local governments, and long-standing agency partners - to understand what they believed were the core purposes of the organization and how TJCOG would need to adapt to remain relevant and invaluable to the region in the next five years; guidance from a Strategic Planning Steering Committee comprised of local government elected officials and staff, and regional partners.
The framework was presented and formally adopted at the TJCOG Board's May meeting.
