Area Agency on Aging Director

Helping individuals in our region flourish with the highest level of independence and dignity.

Central Pines' Area Agency on Aging (CPAAA) focuses on advocacy and partnership efforts to build and improve a quality continuum of services and supports for the region’s aging adults, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers. We also administer funding from the Older Americans Act and provide technical assistance to funding recipients to assure high-quality services at the local level.  Our work is guided by a four-year Regional Area Plan on Aging, approved by our Advisory Council, the COG Board of Delegates and the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services.

Direct Services

While most of our work supports community partners through fund administration and education, advocacy, resource development, and collaborative efforts, the following direct services are available

  • Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (serving residents of nursing facilities, adult care homes and family care homes)
  • Information and Referral  (assistance with locating services)
  • Options Counseling (private pay)
  • Veteran-Directed Service Program (pilot program status)
Advocacy

CPAAA advocates on behalf of individual and collective concerns of aging adults, their families, and their communities through direct action and organizations such as its Regional Advisory Council on Aging. We support the efforts of the NC Senior Tar Heel Legislature and leverage its advocacy efforts to work with:

  • The North Carolina Coalition on Aging,
  • Friends of Residents In Long Term Care,
  • The NC Partnership to Address Adult Abuse
  • The North Carolina Association of Area Agencies on Aging,
  • The Southeastern Association of Area Agencies on Aging,
  • The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging,
  • ...and many others.
